does anyone out there identify as sexually fluid?

i think it’s kindof a better fit for where i’m at, but like, isn’t all sexuality somewhat fluid?

so what would *identifying* that way really mean?

I would consider it as a recognition that for some of us, our sexuality ebbs and flows and changes throughout our lifetime, expresses itself differently in different places and times, and that simple labels - even supposedly-all-inclusive ones like “queer” or “pansexual” aren’t enough to signify the fact that for us, these things change.

I have gone from asexual to bisexual to pansexual to queer to to queer poly to sexually lesbian (overwhelming preference for female bodies in bed) but able to connect deeply emotionally, mentally, spiritually, sensually to people of all sorts, including a long-term relationship with a straight cis-male partner.

I struggle with the rhetoric that people are always “born gay” or “born lesbian” etc, and that if “we could choose to be straight we would” - firstly, I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen “straight” if it was offered to me, and also does it matter? SO WHAT if they’re gay because they’re born like it or made to be gay or decided to give it a go or whatever. Doesn’t make their claim to human rights any less valid. Less quibbling over why someone is what they is, and more acknowledgement that whoever you love, screw, fuck, caress, crush on, you are a human being first and foremost and deserve all human rights.

But I’m right with you with identifying as sexually fluid. Who knows how my sexuality will express itself once I’ve gone through my years of creative sexytimes. Maybe I’ll go back to being a celibate asexual hermit. Or be hypersexual. Who knows. Whatever it is, let me be, and respect me as I am.
