eh I love coraline (and anansi boys) more than american gods
which I’m aware puts me in a minority of neil gaiman fans but to me there was something lacking about american gods

As much as I love Gaiman — ngl, I was like “OH I GO TO THAT TRAIN STATION EVERY DAY” when reading one of his short story commentaries - the appropriation is

I absolutely adore Gaiman*, but I hated Sandman and couldn’t read past like the fourth or fifth volume. Sorry, everyone, but Morpheus is not only a prick but a boring prick.

He presents the deities of non-Western religions as forgotten (thinking of the Hindu ones because that was what applied to my brown context?)… when many of them are alive and worshipped by many. And not to mention the whole ~America is a bad land for gods~ what exactly do you think the Native Americans were up to before you showed up, Oh Great Snofaced One?
Hey Neil Gaiman. We live in the land you call long ago and far away. And we can read in English. Shocking, I know!
Side note: English Major Armadillo seems to be failing a lot with this shit.
